ECOPARQUE BUENOS AIRES
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
PROJECT
Master Plan, August, 2017. Globally, zoos are suffering an unprecedented crisis. The Buenos Aires Zoo is no exception. After 140 years, it is imperative to seek a long – term solution, which undoubtedly includes a paradigm change.
The Interactive Eco Park pretends to be a solution. The project includes the transformation of the central part of the 18 – hectare land of the traditional Palermo Zoo, dominated by a significant amount of heritage buildings, with a great historical and architectural value. The concept selected is based on the large biomes of Argentina, presenting themes of natural history, conservation, cultural value and current threats.
We analyzed the opportunities and restrictions offered by the site, identifying the areas to integrate mixed displays of great dimensions, always respecting the heritage buildings, the general layout of the main circulations and the existing water bodies.
